Seeking scriptural page(s) regarding those resistant to correction or defensive to their iown detriment?

I'm sure the bible must address this issue, but can't recall specific scripture. I have a good friend with whom I regularly discuss spiritual matters. There is an aspect of her personality that I feel is causing her to miss out on many of the blessings that would come to her both in her personal and professional life. She can be very defensive. She came from a very poor background, but has worked hard to improve her life; however, her self-esteem is still impacted. She tries to hide this, but it's clear to those who know her well, and she can have a major chip on her shoulder at times. I want to help her in the areas that she could improve in, specifically communication. But she is not what I'd call a correctable person. She regards things people say to her in attempts to help as put-downs, and comes back with very defensive comments that can be insulting in and of themselves. It makes me reluctant to be open with her. But I believe she will respond better once presented with scripture
