The speed he took is slang for amphetamine, he never took methamphetamine. Amphetamine is not nearly as neurotoxic as methamphetamine. Hence, why many artists and authors can take copious amounts. I agree with you as a fellow drug user that when used sensibly it is possible to remain intelligent and am tired of the rumours that drug use leads to a fall in grades, as this is not the case, it is only those that miss school or irresponsibly use drugs that end up suffering.
